The three-dimensional Tenax Multimat geomat is specifically designed for protecting slopes from surface erosion, prevents the development of cracks and supports slope revegetation. It can be used for road and railway embankments, for protecting banks of reservoirs and canals and for covering landfills.
It is composed of 2 external layers of flat polypropylene (PP) geogrids and a single central layer, folded in order to give thickness and solidity to the product, as well as crushing resistance. The layers are industrially stitched together with a highly resistant thread that provides compactness.
The Multimat geomat does not deteriorate and keeps its features unaltered over time. The product is flexible, therefore it can adjust to the soil structure and can be laid also if there are bends or if the slope changes.
Tenax Multimat is available in rolls up to 4.40 m wide that are quicker to install (e.g. in landfills), or in 2.20 m wide reels for small works.
It is also available with a reinforcement geogrid (Multimat R) when a high tensile strength is needed or with a Vegetative Pre-seeded Felt (Multimat P) to support and speed revegetation.
Soil erosion is a natural phenomenon: wind and water remove the surface layer of soil. It is a complex process influenced by different factors such as climate, soil type, water features, and vegetation.
To avoid this phenomenon, it is necessary to protect soil from weather elements using materials for erosion control such as anti-erosion geomats, manufactured by extruding thermoplastic polymers.
Once installed, geomats are filled with soil that interlocks, so rain and wind cannot move particles anymore. The net structure lets water filter through, ensures soil permeability and allows the growth of vegetation.
A multi-layer structure provides the Multimat three-dimensional geomat with higher crushing resistance than geomats manufactured by entangling filaments. Indeed, the central folded layer limits product deformability when it is filled with soil.
